A simple interactive counting game using a ten frame, designed in Powerpoint to support children’s early counting skills. Children can use their best robot voices to count how many counters and click the matching number on the number line. This progresses to asking how many more counters need to be added to make 10. An ideal teacher modelling activity on the interactive whiteboard to reinforce children’s knowledge of number bonds.

This simple interactive game, designed in Powerpoint will help support the development of children’s early counting skills from 1 to 10. Children are invited to count the number of fish under the sea on each slide. This activity works well as a whole class teaching tool and can be modelled on the interactive whiteboard. Children can practise drawing the fish and writing the matching number on their individual small whiteboards. A confident child can be asked to click the matching number on the number line. Children requiring additional challenge can be asked to calculate what would be one more / one less than the amount shown. A small sample of slides is shared in the preview.

Children are presented with a ten-frame showing different amounts of farm animals from 1 to 10 and have to click the matching numeral on the number line. Later on, this progresses to asking the children how many more animals would be needed to make 10. This activity reinforces children’s knowledge of number bonds using the ten-frames. This Powerpoint includes ten-frames showing various farm animals from 1 to 10 and is easily editable. The ten-frames can be printed out and laminated as an independent follow up activity that can be used in a variety of different ways.

A simple number ordering game, designed in Powerpoint that is ideal for sharing on the interactive whiteboard as part of whole class teaching and learning with an Easter theme. Children are presented with 3 numeral cards and have to determine whether the cards are correctly or incorrectly ordered. Children / teacher can click ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to show whether they think the three numerals are ordered correctly. Nine different numeral sequences are included. Please note that, the slides are easily editable to include sequences of 3 numerals beyond 10 if you wish to add greater challenge. The Powerpoint also includes smaller numeral ordering cards (x7) ideal for supporting children with special educational needs.

A simple interactive white board activity/maths game that is great for modelling counting back from 10, The slides are fully interactive and the activity links well with White Rose Spring term planning session 6 “Counting back from 10 - Ten in a Bed”. Children are presented with a variety of different cartoon animals in the bed and explore what would be one less by counting back from 10 using the Ten in a Bed nursery rhyme. Following this different numbers of animals are presented in the bed. Children need to count the number of animals in the bed and click on the matching digit card. Larger images of all the animals included in the Powerpoint are included at the end of the slides. These can be made into puppets which can be printed off and laminated for exploration in whole class provision or works well as a small group activity. Children can use their puppets to show how many animals are in the bed and practice counting back from 10.

A simple interactive maths game, designed in Powerpoint to support children’s understanding of number bonds to 10, with the theme of Pancake Day. Children count the number of pancakes presented in each ten-frame and click the matching numeral on the number track. This IWB game activity works well as part of whole class teaching and learning. Next, children are asked to say how many more pancakes would make 10 altogether. Children/teacher/TA click on the matching numeral on the number track to show how many more pancakes would make 10. The missing pancakes float in to the ten-frame and the number bond card is shown (for example, 3 and 7 make 10). All number bonds to 10 are presented in the slides. This resources also includes ten-frame templates and number cards from 1 to 10 showing different arrangements of pancakes from 1 to 10. These cards are ideal for printing off, laminating and using as part of whole class provision to build children’s fluency with number bonds to 10.
